Building 1000 schools funded by the PCSO is a welcome gesture under the administration of PNOY. If this program of the government would push through, it would generate jobs in the area where the school building would be built, as well as the impact that serves as a catapult in enhancing transformation on the part of the education sector. As we all know, this department has been neglected during the past administrations. Basic learning system should always be a priority in the government agenda in order that our educational system would not be left behind as compared to the advance learning technology of our asian neighbors. Modesty aside, our country has been in the foremost in this field during the 50's when foreign nationals would come to the Philippines and prefer to study. Look now, and assess what have our asian neighbors had transpired! Instead of pouring billions of pesos in the hands of PAJERO bishops, why not give this needed share in the educational sector?

Mafia style of carnage

Countless incidence of motorcycle riding tandem killings had come to a breaking point when one of the fallen assailants had been identified as an active member of the police. This uncovered mystery of helmet riding tandems only stir the minds of the people as to who are the real identities of this modern day marauder. Not counting on its positive side, many drug addicts/offenders had been erased in the so-called order-of -battle lists just to establish the province as a safe haven for tourists as well as a good investment area and to escalate the statistics of drug-related killings. Commentaries queued in, why members of the police are being used by influential politicians only to be paid up in the end with only a fraction of the booty just to finish the "operation". This is happening in different parts of the country, not to single-out our own province. Their guilty conscience hounds them throughout their lives, even if they set foot on the gates of hell or the glory of heavens.

Evil thrives when good people do nothing

A quote from Edmund Burke clearly elaborates that when a wicked person are in authority, sin flourishes, but the godly will live to see their downfall. If cheating runs in your bloodline, immorality and estrangement from God always follow. Public officials who have been anointed by the electorates has adopted the sense to become reluctant to relinquish their elective positions. Worse, they tend to behave as if they own their position or office and even convert it into a family enterprise wherein it is subjected to hereditary successions. They can influence or coerce hapless voters and spends so much to get themselves elected into a public office. One thing - after assumption to office, they can quickly replenish what they have spent - by means of cheating. Call this as their mission in life, or legacy to uplift the poor, they must cheat in order to have prestige and power to a community where popularity and 4 G's have been established as a proven formula. This spill-over phenomenon has already shaped our nation's reputation as a country of cheaters. In a recent study, 95% had already admitted they have cheated in their entire life. Anent to this, a proven family-school partnership has a vital role in shaping a child's growth in order to cope up with his success or failures in the future. Students who have been listed as drop outs will end up as criminals, nuisance and ultimately good agents of corruption in the the government. In a country where corrupt officials are not persecuted, justices are being bribed, and innocent minds are being polluted...Is this the kind of change what we are expecting for? But the worst of all... why do electorates tolerates it?

Auditing government transactions

In the spate of controversies regarding government transactions, taxpayers are always in a quandary where have those millions and billions of pesos are being spent. COA, the government's auditing arm considered to be as the last bastion for good governance, is now being painted as a graft-ridden agency. Knowing that their responsibility is to check irregularities in all government transactions, their findings are critical in restoring the faith in government service. As we all know, "public service is a public trust". In the case of Ms. Heidi Mendoza a former auditor, her explosive expose' has started the ball rolling on the plunder case filed against Gen. Garcia. If you weigh the circumstance behind this, was it a justifiable act for the ombudsman to give a plea bargain deal into this case?

Rogue cops

The failed abduction of an indian national by alleged members of the quezon city police have raised eyebrows on the hierarchy of the PNP. It is also lamentable - the fact that one of their fellow policeman from Pasay who responded on the scene have been shot repeatedly in order to seal off their nefarious activity. Sr. Inspector Apolinario should not only be commended but promoted as well being the sole witness in the alleged crime. Policemen from quezon city had once hit the headline regarding the carnapping fiasco that left a number of innocent civilians dead a year ago. Punishment ranges from administrative sanctions, deregulation of duties but seldom expulsion from the service. How can someone expect their commitment to the service if every now and then we see rogue cops being sought for their undisciplinary acts and crimes to the people?

Vicious cycle

It is considered as a poor man's game, yet it catapulted jueteng lords and even politicians into the upper echelons of the society. This numbers game cannot be eradicated unless it starts first from us. Do not bet! Recently, it was demonstrated on TV how an "illegal" result can easily be conducted. In this case, a poor man's chance to win is no longer achieved thereby forcing himself to the vicious cycle of poverty. Let us remind ourselves that a single cent we intend to donate will not only pass on the hands of these hungry crocodiles but can also be used as a dirty money to influence voters in order to win in an election .
